Berner Oberland Ski Tour Overview

A high altitude ski traverse through the Jungfrau and Eiger region of the Berner Oblerand high in the Swiss Alps. This is some of the most spectacular alpine ski touring terrain on the planet in the heart of Switzerland. The Berner ski tour is not very affected by snow pack amounts due to the high altitude nature of the ski touring. We ski high up on some of Switzerland’s largest glaciers for the bulk of the ski touring.

Beginning and ending Grindelwald, Switzerland. After day warm up day of skiing in the Grindelwald area, we begin our ski tour by riding the famous Jungfraujoch train though the inside of the famous Eiger which drops us off high on the Aletsch Glacier, Switzerland’s largest. From there we visit high mountain huts for five nights. Our itinerary includes one lay over day at one of the huts so we have a choice of objectives on that day based on snow conditions and group goals.

All in all this is a great Alps ski tour for those looking for something different than the more famous tours. It is also a more high altitude tour which means it is not as affected by lower snowpack seasons.

IAG’s IFMGA guide Paul Koubek leads most of the Berner ski tours. Join us in March for this special Alps ski tour!
