Brian Biega grew up in the SF Bay Area and spent much of his childhood skiing and hiking in the Sierra. Brian moved to Telluride, CO his junior year of high school where he skied on the Telluride Freestyle Team. He was introduced to rock climbing in the spring of 1989 almost by accident - little did he realize he was being taught and mentored by some of the most respected names in the international climbing community! He took up this new passion with zest and began to climb any chance he could get including taking up ice climbing later that year.

After high school, Brian moved to Lake Tahoe where he continued to follow his passions for climbing the rock and ice and skiing the Sierra and soon established a new career and has been mountain guiding for 25+ years at places like: Alpine Skills International (ASI, Truckee), Skys the Limit (Red Rocks, NV) Sierra Mountain Guides (Tahoe, CA) and the Sierra Mountain Center (Bishop, CA)

Brian has shared ropes with some of the great climbers and has established many first ascents of his own. He has climbed throughout North America, South America and Europe but Yosemeite holds a special place in Brian's heart having 100's of Yosemite climbs under his belt including 10 ascents of the Nose of El Capitan (including 5 Nose in a day ascents), Widows Tears (Ice), Lurking Fear (in a day) and many multi day ascents on Half Dome including an early ascent of Zenith.

Brian currently resides in Truckee, CA with his wife and his Boston terrier, Hank. He is an active board member of the North Tahoe Climbing Coalition.

Brian is Wilderness First Responder & CPR certified and is a Certified Rock Instructor and Certified Rock Guide with the AMGA. Brian is currently pursuing additional certifications to become internationally certified with the IFMGA.
